Five more international stars confirmed for World GP Bike Legends

Five more international stars confirmed for World GP Bike Legends

Phil Read, Manuel Herreros, Tadayuki Okada, Jorge Martínez and Carlos Lavado add to the already illustrious list of racers at all-new event.

The ultimate three-day motorcycle festival – World GP Bike Legends – just got even bigger. Five more international racing heroes have confirmed that they will be racing at Jerez, Spain in June 19-21, on classic 125cc, 250cc and 500cc machines. The following star names will be lining up alongside fellow legends including Freddie Spencer, Wayne Gardner, Kevin Schwantz, Loris Capirossi and many more – click here to view the full list.

Phil Read – British

Known as ‘The Prince of Speed’, Phil Read is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in motorcycle racing history. He adds no fewer than eight world championship t**les to the event’s unparalleled tally. Incredibly he was the first man ever to win world championships in the 125cc, 250cc and 500cc classes, all of which will be in action over the weekend.

Manuel Herreros ‘Champi’ – Spanish

Nicknamed ‘Champi’, Manuel Herreros is another former World Champion who couldn’t pass up the opportunity to race in the inaugural World GP Bike Legends. The 1989 80cc t**le-winner competed at international level between 1984-1991, and is in fact the reigning 80cc champion, with the class being discontinued the year after Herreros topped the standings. He also scored a podium finish in the 125cc class at Imola in 1987.

Tadayuki Okada – Japanese

One of the most successful Japanese riders of all time, Okada scored multiple podiums and race wins at 250cc and 500cc levels. He was runner-up in the world championship in both classes, finishing second on a 250cc Honda in 1994 and just behind Mick Doohan on an NSR500 in 1997.

Jorge Martínez ‘Aspar’ – Spanish

A four-time World Champion, Jorge ‘Aspar’ Martínez is one of the best known riders in grand prix racing. He impressively won both the 80cc and 125cc t**les in 1988, and has remained a central part of the grand prix paddock by creating and managing the Aspar Racing Team which is still active in MotoGP.

Carlos Lavado – Venezuelan

Racing from the late 1970s to early 1990s, Lavado adds two more world t**les and a new continent to the mix for World GP Bike Legends. Winner of the 1983 and 1986 250cc World Championships aboard Yamaha TZ250 machinery, the South American superstar scored a total of 19 wins and 42 podiums.

The headlining ‘Race of Legends’ showdowns top the bill of unmatched entertainment over the three days, with all the confirmed riders taking part in practice on Friday followed by qualifying and races on Saturday and Sunday. Every entry ticket grants access to the paddock and pits at the iconic Spanish venue plus access to grandstand seating.

It’s not just racing that your World GP Bike Legends ticket gets you – there is also live music on the Friday and Saturday nights headlined by music icon Bonnie Tyler, plus a shopping village, classic bike displays, trials shows, a fun fair and much more. It’s also a brilliant opportunity to swap stories with the amazing line-up of legends and get all your photos and kit signed.

Fourwheeled scooter launches in UK

Fourwheeled scooter launches in UK

The Quadro 4

And the Quadro 3

SWISS firm Quadro’s range of three and four-wheeled scooters is set to go on sale in the UK for the first time.

The Quadro 4 and Quadro 3 made their international debut at the Eicma Milan motorcycle show in November.

Both use a single-cylinder 346cc engine. The Quadro 3 makes 27hp and 21lbft while the Quadro 4 has been retuned for 30hp and 18lbft.

Both have a tilting suspension system allowing them to lean like conventional two-wheeled scooters, the Quadro 3 on the front two wheels and the Quadro4 on all four.

The Quadro 4 also has two-wheel drive at the rear, a world first on a scooter according to the Swiss makers.

It offers touring comfort with two 12-volt power sockets and storage space for two helmets according to UK distributor Clements Moto.

The Quadro 3 is the third generation of the Swiss manufacturer’s three-wheeled scooter.

Both models come in grey, black or white while the Quadro 4 is also available in red.

Prices have yet to be announced.

A press release issued this morning said: ‘From Vacallo Switzerland Quadro, the world’s only 4 wheel scooter and innovative Hydraulically damped 3 wheel scooter has arrived in the UK!

Swiss engineering has become a world mainstay for precision and engineering excellence. With this familiar ethos Quadro has created a scooter like no other in the world showcasing the innovative Quadro Hydraulic Tilt System (HTS).

Quadro 3

Taking the familiar 3 wheel layout Quadro has created a muscular, aggressive design that shares its sporting lines with race snowmobiles, with an imposing presence yet to be seen from another brand. The Quadro story begins under the skin… Over a 5 year development program, Quadro has discarded the traditional suspension components renowned for short service life with a revolutionary patented system ‘Hydraulic Tilt System’ with innovative Hydraulic Tilt Lock.

HTS can adjust its behaviour according to conditions ensuring surefooted grip and reassuring handling characteristics that automatically adjusts its attitude in all riding conditions, even the most difficult. HTS equips the two front wheels, allowing these to tilt simultaneously. This innovative tilting system guarantees fluidity and precision and a stable riding position even at times of poor balance, caused by road humps, potholes, metal tram lines, small obstacles, puddles or wet roads.

The HTS system guarantees total stability, maximum security and a predictable feel to the inexperienced yet rewards the experienced rider with grip and poise that has never been seen before. HTS can be locked into place with a light action lever to hold at any angle on any surface.

Quadro 4

The Quadro namesake is not lost as from June 2015 Quadro will launch a world 1st … The FOUR wheel scooter that fully adopts the HTS system. The wheel at each corner takes handling, grip and safety to completely new heights able to slalom through traffic with ease. It is simply a revolution in transportation offering a low kerb weight and compact dimensions with linear predictable handling characteristics.

QUADRO4 utilises 240mm disc brakes front and rear offering optimal combined braking. QUADRO4 can stop on corners and uneven surfaces, without compromising the scooter’s optimal balance or upsetting the grip below.

Using the tilting lock lever, QUADRO4 may be parked on any type of surface. The lever can be activated separately from the scooter’s brakes. Activating it will lock the HTS, so that the scooter may be easily moved within small parking spaces, e.g. between two cars in a small garage or at an extreme angle.

Brisk, Powerful performance

Both Quadro 3 and 4 are equipped a single-cylinder 346cc engine adopting a 4 valve, overhead camshaft, providing 27 HP at 7,000 rpm with maximum torque of 25.2 Nm at only 5,500 rpm – allowing the Quadro scooter to guarantee excellent performance in all riding conditions. Both the Quadro 3 and 4 offer seamless, brisk performance capable of over 300 KM per tank. The Quadro 4 adopts a retuned version innovatively centrally mounted with traction on both rear wheels via an integrated differential. It’s the worlds 1st 2 wheel drive scooter!

Touring Comfort

The plush dual seat has been designed to offer riders and their passengers, a comfortable seating arrangement. Thanks to the wide space between the chassis and the seat, riders of all sizes will be able to find their own riding position. The seat storage compartment has a 12-volt socket, useful for connecting electronic devices, and can accommodate two helmets. Another 12-volt socket is located inside the front storage compartment, and may be used to plug in ride a**isting devices, such as satnavs. A smaller storage compartment can be used for storing small objects and documents such as mobile phones and wallets.

QUADRO’s dashboard has been designed to provide the rider with all relevant information and is easy to read yet refined making information easy to grasp.

Dual sport tyre

Dual sport tyre

The rear tyre on the Husky SM is fairly shook at the moment and was wonderin what dual sport tyres are worth purchasing. Thinkin of doin a bit more green laning and entering the Paddy Dakar for the craic this year too.
It currently has Avon distanzias on at the moment which I find great on road but wear pretty quick as they seem a little soft. I don’t find them much good in the muck either.

Is there anythin out there thats reasonable on and off road and will last a decent amount of miles?
